The Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa at Natadola Bay hosted our recent conference for some 250 carpet retailers, sponsors and corporate staff.
The four-night program was action packed with an enjoyable balance between work, rest and play.
Social functions included a cocktail outdoor welcome reception with live cooking food stations and cultural entertainment; a pirate themed costume party on a private beach with some very impressive fire dancers and a Bollywood themed gala dinner in a spectacularly themed setting. Following the gala dinner the group kicked on at a specially created private nightclub with entertainment by renowned DJ “Hot Dub Time Machine” taking us on a musical journey from 1954 to the present – with his high energy show of light and sound.
Just one week before the conference Fiji was unfortunately hit by the devastating Cyclone Winston. We collaborated with our client and came up with ways that we could contribute to the restoration of the island. This included an auction during the gala dinner where over AU$15,000 was raised for the victims and rebuilding of the devastated areas.
Additionally, attendees were given the opportunity to donate anything from clothing to toiletries, food, toys and school stationary. The donations were very generous and filled a large pick-up truck to the brim. One of the conference sponsors, Dunlop Flooring, were extremely generous and sent an entire shipping container load of Bonds underwear and clothing along with Tontine bedding to Fiji!
The speaker line up included emcee and presenter Scott Williams, who also launched his brand new book “The Happy Human” at the conference. Scott is a perennial favourite because of his incredible sense of humour and ability to emcee, present key notes and comedy sketches.
We’d have to also make mention of the standing ovation received by Michael Crossland who presented an inspiring story of survival against the odds and a life dedicated to enriching the lives of others encapsulated by his quote “master the gift of giving and you will master the gift of life”. There were a number of other outstanding and inspiring presenters offering advice on many aspects of modern business, technology and the importance of social media and how it is driving business growth.
The service at the InterContinental Fiji Resort was outstanding, matched by an incomparable setting of spectacular white sandy beach lined with swaying palms. It just doesn’t get much better!
